Notice – Recovery of the recreational boating training and certification exams for seafarers, as well as full survey and certification services of ships and vessels

According to Article 24 of Council of Ministers’ Resolution No 38/2020, of 17 May, it should be noted that, as of 18 May 2020, the following maritime activities are resumed:

  1. The recreational boating training is resumed, provided that the following conditions are met:
    a) The minimum distance of 2 m between citizens is respected.
    b) The trainees and employees must comply with the rules on the individual and collective protection laid down by the training entities during the theoretical and practical training on board of vessels, without prejudice to the rules that may be determined by the maritime administration.
  2. Subject to the requirement of protection rules referred to in subparagraph b) of the preceding paragraph, when the examinations for obtaining or renewing the Sailing are carried out, the indicative maximum occupation of 0.05 persons per square meter must be respected, taking into account the spaces accessible to applicants as regards the theoretical exam, and the Chairman of the selection board is free to determine the maximum number of participants and examiners that may be carried simultaneously in the vessels to be used in the practical exams, as well as the positioning of each person on board the vessel.
  3. The exams are also resumed within the scope of the certification of seafarers, by applying the provisions of the previous paragraphs.
  4. For the purpose of the preceding paragraphs, the installations in operation are governed mutatis mutandis by the provisions of Article 8.
  5. The survey and certification services of ships and merchant, fishing vessels and recreational craft are also resumed. It shall contain the specific conditions for individual protection of the participants and other conditions for carrying out the surveys shall be established by the maritime administration.
