DGRM through the the Chief of the Division of Personnel of the Sea and Recreational Sailors, Carlota Leitão Correia, participated in the 4th Meeting of the Special Tripartite Commission of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC-2006) organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The Special Tripartite Commission meeting that took place from April 19 to 23, by Video Conference, with the participation of more than 300 representatives among Seafarers, Shipowners and Governments, having addressed fundamental issues such as the state of play regarding the implementation of MLC,2006, COVID-19 and issues related to maritime labour and MLC and digitalization (the use of electronic certificates) and two Resolutions regarding the vaccination of seafarers and the implementation and practical application of MLC-2006 during the COVID-19 pandemic were approved.
DGRM, in the person of its representative, was appointed spokesperson for the Governmental Group of the European Union in the context of the meetings that took place within the Special Tripartite Commission (Governments, Plenary and Drafting Group) and ensured the respective articulation with the Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations.
