The Minister of the Sea announced today that sardine fishing possibilities should reach almost 30 thousand tonnes in 2021, taking into account the new scientific advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). This is a significant increase from the 10,000 tonnes provisionally forecast when the harvest began on May 17. "We cannot give an exact figure today because management options for this resource will have to be agreed with Spain, as the source is common. However, this is already excellent news for Portuguese fisheries", stressed Ricardo Serrão Santos.
