DGRM awards contract for dredging of Tavira bar

The Directorate General for Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM) proceeded with the consignment of the maintenance dredging of the Port of Tavira on 13 September.
The contract, with an execution period of 2 months, contemplates the dredging of 63,000 m3 of sediments of predominantly sandy constitution from the bar, entrance channel and inner area that includes the four waters area and the recreational dock, representing a total investment of half a million euros, coming entirely from the State Budget for 2021.
The planned work will begin next week, first with the complete bathymetric survey of the intervention areas, after which dredging will take place sequentially in the various areas mentioned.
The work includes the transport of sediments for immersion in the marine environment, most of which will be placed in the coastal drift, feeding the beaches and combating coastal erosion.
This work is another step in the fulfillment of the Multi-Annual Dredging Plan produced by DGRM in partnership with LNEC, to improve the conditions of navigability and accessibility to the port of Tavira.
