Webinar - Public presentation of the NAVESAFETY Project

The Webinar for the presentation of the Project "NAVSAFETY - Emerging technologies for remote sensing in real-time support of the safety of navigation in port areas" will be held on 20th December, between 10:00 and 13:00, and will present the main results obtained during the two years of dedicated research.

This project, co-financed by the Blue Fund Programme, was developed in a partnership between the University of Aveiro, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, the Port of Figueira da Foz, Simbiente and DGRM.

Navsafety, is a technological platform (http://navsafety.web.ua.pt/#home) that aims to generate high frequency information in near real time, in the form of morphological (location of submerged bars, width and position of the navigation channel) and oceanographic (wave height, wave period and direction) indicators at the entrance to the ports.

This project also aims to provide information in the form of morphological indicators for the domains adjacent to the port with a view to better dredging management, an aspect that is particularly relevant in the case of ports located on coastlines exposed to intense sediment transport.

The aim of this Webinar is to present the project and to reflect on the various approaches adopted and the main solutions that have been obtained with regard to the estimation of indicators relating to the morphology of the bottom in the area of the mouth of ports, with the ports of Ericeira and Figueira da Foz as case studies.
