DGRM launches tender for 4.9 million euros for dredging Portuguese Ports

The public tender for the multi-annual contracting of dredging in the ports of Central Portugal was published in the Diário da República, in the amount of 4.9 million euros (VAT included) and execution in the triennium 2022-24. The tender was launched on the basis of Council of Ministers Resolution no. Center, contemplating the ports of Nazaré, São Martinho do Porto, Peniche and Ericeira. According to José Carlos Simão, Director-General of DGRM, “this tender will allow us to comply with the Plurennial Dredging Plan, prepared by this Directorate-General and the National Civil Engineering Laboratory, through the multi-annual contracting of maintenance dredging in these ports” . He also added that “it will allow a more efficient management of dredging operations in the access channels and inside the port infrastructure, in order to ensure navigability and maritime maneuvers in the ports in question, always with the best safety conditions for vessels and respective crews, through the maintenance of adequate service quotas in the different ports”. The dredged sediments will always be moved in conjunction with the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA, IP), to feed adjacent beaches and combat coastal erosion. With the publication of this tender, applications must be submitted by the competitors within the next 30 days.
