Countdown to the UN Ocean Conference

Just a few days to go until the United Nations Ocean Conference begins!

The main event will take place from June 27th to July 1st, at Altice Arena, in Lisbon, and will consist of 3 distinct moments:

• Plenary Session - dedicated to high-level discussions between governments and political leaders.

• Interactive Dialogues - dedicated to more scientific and technical discussions by high-level representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations, International Organizations, Universities, Companies and also Governments.

• Side Events - dedicated to announcing voluntary commitments and generating momentum for alliances and specific initiatives on ocean issues.

At the same time, 4 special events will take place:

• Youth and Innovation Forum - June 24th to 26th, at Nova SBE, Carcavelos, dedicated to young leaders and their innovative ideas to reverse the decline of Ocean Health.

• Local and Regional Governments Forum - June 25, Porto de Leixões, Matosinhos, dedicated to showing how regional and local action can benefit the Ocean.

• High Level Symposium on Water - June 27, Altice Arena, Lisbon, dedicated to high level discussions to bridge the gap between SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 14 (Life under water).

• Forum on Sustainable Blue Economy and Investment - June 28, Estoril Congress Center, dedicated to bringing together companies, financiers and entrepreneurs on ocean issues in an attempt to better shape the financing instruments for the Blue Economy.

In addition to the initiatives mentioned above, there will also be many side events (https://www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/obz_side_event_programme_1406.pdf) taking place outside the blue zone, as well as virtual events (https: //www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/virtual_side_event_programme_1406.pdf) in which everyone can participate!
