Considering the catch data of this stock so far, it appears that the level of utilization of the quota allocated to vessels registered in the mainland ports has exceeded 80%. Thus, in compliance with numbers 1 and 2 of article 1 of Ordinance No. 20/2013, directed fishing of the stock of Beryx spp. is closed from 00:00 hours on August 1, 2022. From this date forward, the discharge of any species is prohibited, with the exception of Beryx decadactylus, whose discharges are authorized, as bycatch, up to 5% of the total unloaded. Given the level of use at the time, it is expected that the closing of the quota of Beryx available for vessels registered in mainland ports, will occur in the coming days.
