The General Director, José Carlos Simão, participated in several phases of the event that took place from 26th to 30th of September, in the city of Porto. José Carlos Simão gave a presentation on decarbonization in shipping and moderated a panel on the same topic.

The challenges facing the maritime-port sector arising from the application of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Initial Strategy to reduce Greenhouse Gases and the European “Fit for 55” package were the themes presented and discussed.

As of 2023, annual CO2 emission reduction targets will apply to Shipping, which will put ships and ports on the effective decarbonization route.
