Current landing data for common sole (Solea solea) indicate that the sub?quota of 108 metric tons allocated to Portugal for 2026 has been fully exhausted. Therefore, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 36 of Regulation (EU) No 1224/2009 of 20 November, from 00:00 on 19 June 2026, the fishing of common sole (Solea solea) is prohibited.

The capture and landing of other sole species remain permitted, namely Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) and sand sole (Pegusa lascaris).
