Young Fisherman's Statute

If you are an aquaculturist, fisherman, or shipowner on the mainland and want to be granted a Status with benefits, namely in the granting of fishing/aquaculture licenses, reduction of port usage fees (berthing) and equipment storage, among others.

- Young people up to and including 40 years of age;

- Legal entities that are certified micro or small enterprises, under the terms set out in the annex to Decree-Law No. 372/2007 of 6 November, as amended, and whose share capital or voting rights belong to one or more individuals who meet the age requirement referred to in paragraph 2 and who hold the status of partner or manager;

- or their legal representative(s).

The application must be submitted online through the Electronic Maritime Desk (BMar).

Applications are submitted via onlineDesk - Balcão Eletrónico do Mar (BMar):

Access www.bmar.pt, register and authenticate yourself.

In the PERSONAL AREA / MY ENTITY,

1. Click on Create Request;

2. Select the Request Category "Funds and Subsidies" and the Request Type "Application for Young Fisherman Status".

3. Fill in the required data and attach the requested documents in the appropriate fields for this purpose, verify the information and submit your request.

For individuals, a copy of the identification document and, in the case of foreigners, an additional Residence Permit must be presented.

For legal entities, a permanent certificate from the commercial registry, accompanied by the identification documents of the partners and a document proving that the majority of the share capital or voting rights belong to one or more individuals who meet the age requirement of 40 years or less.

For shipowners and aquaculturists,

- Proof of CAE registration,

- Proof of the Permanent Certificate from the Commercial Registry, if you do not have an access key.

For Fishermen:

- Proof of required training as per current legislation,

- Basic Safety Certificate,

- Trainee Sailor Course, Embarkation Declaration or Embarkation List showing your registration on a fishing vessel.

If representing:
Declaration or power of attorney from the holder (mandatory document to start the process).

If representing an entity:
Declaration from the legal representative of the entity (mandatory document to start the process).

The application is free of charge.
