Certificates Recognition by Authentications

You should apply for the recognition of your certificate of competency prior to embark on Portuguese flagged vessels.

It can be required by:

  • the holder;
  • a representative of an entity, on behalf of third parties, as long as a processing of personal data declaration in accordance with the general regulation on data protection.

Online submission:

  1. Register and authenticate yourself;
  2. Access the new Request menu, select the Request Category, "Certificates Recognition by Authentications";
  3. Fill in the form, upload the attachments, verify the information and submit your application.

If holder:

  • Identification document;
  • Valid seaman’s book
  • Certificates to be recognized;
  • Valid Medical Certificate;
  • Statement attesting knowledge of Portuguese maritime legislation;
  • Updated photo (height 2.5 [cm] x width 2 [cm] - passport type), with white background, size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif.

If you represent an entity on behalf of third parties:

  • Statement (mandatory document to initiate application proceedings);
  • Identification document;
  • Valid seaman’s book
  • Certificates to be recognized;
  • Valid Medical Certificate;
  • Statement attesting knowledge of Portuguese maritime legislation;
  • Updated photo (height 2.5 [cm] x width 2 [cm] - passport type), with white background, size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif.
