Licence for Harvesting Algae Support Vessel

 

Only vessels registered in the national fishing fleet file that meet the following conditions can be licensed to support algae harvesting during diving:

a) Present a valid inspection form, issued by the General Directorate of Maritime Authority (DGAM), which certifies the semi-autonomous open circuit diving equipment or other equipment suitable for carrying out the activity;

b) Have, on board, all the material and skills necessary to safeguard the lives of the catchers and support the activity, under the terms determined by DGAM;

c) They are identified on the side, on both sides, with the words clearly legible and with white letters inscribed on a black background “underwater algae harvesting”, with a minimum letter size of 10 cm in height;

d) Present the list of holders of algae harvesting license for professional diving who intend to carry out the activity on the vessel in question;

e) Indicate to the DGRM, within the scope of the annual renewal of the license, which harvesting area they intend to operate in, with authorization being conditional on the existence of a vacancy.

The application is submitted online through the Electronic Sea Desk (BMar):

  1. Open www.bmar.pt, please register and log in;
  2. Press the New Request button, choose the following category "Professional Fishing" and Request type "Licence for Harvesting Algae Support Vessel";
  3. Fill in the required data.
  4. Check your request summary and submit the application.

Note: The vacancy can only be assigned to the captaincy corresponding to the tax address, and after availability. This expression of interest is only valid for the current year, and must be repeated whenever you want to express interest. The amount paid will not be refunded even if there is no place for a vacancy.

Vessel for Algae harvesting in professional diving

  • Updated proof of registration with AT in activity 03112 - Harvesting algae and other sea products
  • Title of Ownership of the Vessel
  • Declaration from the Owner of the support vessel, if the catcher is not the owner

If representative:

  • Statement or power of attorney from the holder (a mandatory document to initiate the process).

If representative of an entity:

  • Statement legal representative of an entity (a mandatory document to initiate the process).
